The visual identity emerges from a chance encounter: the nine distinct letters that compose I-N-T-H-E-M-A-K-I-N-G match the number of schools participating in the exhibition.

By assigning a different letter to each institution—symbolic, abstract, architectural—we emphasize the collective and collaborative nature of the project.

To introduce the six research lines of Becoming that shape the 2026 UIA World Congress of Architects, we complement this system with a numerical layer, assigning a number to each one.

The intersection of these two components—letters, on one side; and numbers, on the other—generates a visual language that is informative and iconic at the same time.

***IN THE MAKING: Cartography of Catalan Architecture and Design Schools is an exhibition presented in Capella MACBA as part of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture. The exhibition sets out to position nine Catalan universities as research laboratories and thought spaces in relation to the global challenges to be discussed at the UIA Congress 2026.
