Bergen in german means to recover, to unearth, to rescue.

To recover something is not merely to find or retrieve it. When something has been obscured, damaged, or forgotten, it can fade from view. Yet it is precisely by focusing our attention on such things that their significance is revealed. Through processes of artistic inquiry, traces of memory, material, and language surface in the works of these ten artists. Recovery becomes an intervention, a process of extraction, transformation, and translation. Existing meanings shift and new ones emerge. This exhibition brings together a range of media, encompassing image, text, object, and installation.
