Palmadotze

Palmadotze is a contemporary art gallery founded in 1989 by Pilar Carbonell and Anna Rovira. Its program seeks to create a dialogue between established and emerging artists, and between the artists and their place: Santa Margarida i els Monjos, a town in the heart of the Penedès, 50 km from Barcelona, surrounded by vineyards and known for its cava production. In fact, the gallery is housed in a 15th-century farmhouse that was once used as a winery.

When I was asked to redesign their website, I felt that beyond the artists, the curators, and the exhibitions themselves, there was something even more idiosyncratic: the place. Its surroundings, landscapes, and fauna create a particular atmosphere for making, experiencing, and discussing art.

That is why I suggested highlighting this environment through videos that change with the seasons. Like the exhibitions themselves, the website is porous to its context.
